Psychiatric Consultation – (b)(3)

​​​​​For full service definition information link herePsychiatric Consultation provides brief, intermediate or extensive levels of consultation between a psychiatrist and a primary care provider, or a provider functioning in the capacity of a primary care provider, to ensure appropriate management of psychiatric conditions by the primary care provider. The consultation can be via phone or other communication devices and requires that the recipient be directly evaluated by the consulting psychiatrist.

Intended Population

  • This service is available to a North Carolina Medicaid participant who has a DSM5 diagnosis, is age 3 or older, and who is under care from a primary care physician.
