Scary headlines seem to dominate TV and social media these days. With this fear and uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we could all use some good news. To help you focus on the brighter side during this global crisis, we’ve collected seven of the many awesome things that happened around our communities in March and April 2020.
  1. Danielle Woodall from Cardinal Innovations’ central region was selected by Chatham County to be a member of the UNC Go Global Latino Initiative Health Program May 2020 delegation to travel to Mexico.
  2. To combat medical mask shortages, Charlotte Latin School and UNC-Charlotte students are making thousands of 3D-printed face shields for medical workers across the state.
  3. Winston-Salem resident Kelsey Dolan, along with hundreds of others across North Carolina, is offering her RV as temporary housing for medical professionals during the COVID-19 outbreak.
  4. North Carolina will be providing housing for thousands of N.C. residents experiencing housing instability during the COVID-19 crisis.
  5. The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College donated unused PPE to local hospitals to help with the COVID-19-related shortage of medical supplies.
  6. The popular fundraising partner World’s Finest Chocolate donated over 20,000 chocolate bars to health care workers throughout the 11 Atrium hospitals in North Carolina.
  7. Nine-year-old Liam Barret of Hendersonville, N.C., has been making and handing out thank-you cards to essential workers in his community (from a safe distance, of course).
