James Otterberg, Chief Financial Officer

​​​James Otterberg is the chief financial​ officer of Cardinal Innovations Healthcare. Otterberg, who joined Cardinal Innovations in February 2016, is responsible for continuously evaluating the company's financial position against its short and long-term strategic financial objectives. Otterberg oversees all financial reporting and operational activities of the company.

Otterberg has more than 20 years of experience working in finance and accounting leadership roles and has a proven record of analysis and strategic planning in asset-intensive, globally competitive environments.

Otterberg began his career as an audit manager for Ernst & Young, LLP, in Greensboro, performing annual audits of financial statements for numerous publicly traded companies in the textile and transportation industries. His financial and business acumen led to several leadership positions over the last 20 years including his role at the Polymer Group, Inc. in Charlotte, N.C., where he served as vice president of finance for the company's U.S. region. While in this role, Otterberg was responsible for the financial operations of the U.S. region including all compliance, forecasting and strategic planning activities.

Before joining Cardinal Innovations, Otterberg worked as chief financial officer and chief accounting officer at Greensboro-based Unifi, Inc. where he was responsible for the company's overall business and financial strategy, as well as the management of all activities associated with financial reporting and investor relations.

A certified public accountant, Otterberg is a graduate of Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. 

Otterberg is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the North Carolina Association of CPAs. He and his wife live in Greensboro with their daughter and son.
