September CFAC Update: New Officers Elected

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare — September 17, 2019
Cardinal Innovations Healthcare’s Consumer and Family Advisory Committee (CFAC) is in full swing with our newly aligned Regional Structure and Steering Committee.

As a reminder, Cardinal Innovations’ CFAC is aligned regionally as follows:
  • Northern Region CFAC – Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Vance, Warren
  • Central Region CFAC – Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Orange, Person
  • Triad Region CFAC – Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Rockingham, Stokes
  • Southern Region CFAC – Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, Union
With the new alignment, we also have implemented our newly adopted bylaws/addendums posted here on Cardinal Innovations’ website.

CFAC continues efforts to finalize the Relational Agreement between Cardinal Innovations and the CFAC, led by efforts of Cardinal Innovations’ newly formed CFAC Steering Committee as part of their scope and responsibility. Additionally, the CFAC Steering Committee is also reviewing the Bonnie Schell information and application process. The CFAC Steering Committee voted for a moratorium on Bonnie Schell applications until November 1 so that the CFAC Steering Committee would have time to fully review the application process with input from all Regional CFACs.

The CFAC Steering Committee includes three members from each Regional CFAC, representing each of Cardinal Innovations’ target populations of mental health, substance use, and intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (MH/SUD/IDD). The group meets quarterly (starting in August), on the first Thursday of the month from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled on Thursday, November 7, to be held at Cardinal Innovations’ Alamance-Caswell Community Office, 2929 Crouse Lane, Burlington, N.C.

New chairpersons and vice chairpersons have been elected for the newly aligned Regional CFACs. Those appointments are noted below. If you would like to contact any of Cardinal Innovations’ Regional CFACs, email and your request will be forwarded to the designated chairperson/vice chairperson for that specific region.

As peer support takes hold across most sectors of health and wellness it is vital that its growth and evolution continue to be guided by recognition of its roots and the principles that define peer support. The goal is to discuss topics that effect each of the targeted health areas (MH/IDD/SUD) to bring about awareness and education.

About CFAC
The state created CFACs to provide a way for members and family members to be actively involved in the decision making process and to provide input on initiatives that improve the health and wellness of Cardinal Innovations’ members.

The CFACs are self-governing groups that have a choice to receive administrative support from the Cardinal Innovations staff. CFAC members are adult volunteers age 18 or older who receive services for mental health, intellectual or developmental disabilities, or substance use disorder (MH/IDD/SUD) or are family members of those receiving services.

If you would like to contact one of your Regional CFACs to provide input regarding services, service gaps or any other issue, email
