Regional Health Council Update – January 2020

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare — January 08, 2020
In 2019, Cardinal Innovations Healthcare announced a change toward its approach to community governance with the establishment of Regional Health Councils. The goal for this new model is to provide a more responsive and solution-focused approach to creating change in each region of our catchment.

The Regional Health Council model has four groups to create this change: The four regions include:
  • Northern region: Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Vance, and Warren counties.
  • Central region: Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Orange, and Person counties.
  • Triad region: Davie, Davidson, Forsyth, Stokes, and Rockingham counties.
  • Southern region: Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, Union
Regional Health Council Update
This past December, our Board of Directors selected the official members for our four RHCs, and the initial meetings will happen later this month, in January 2020.

Community Advisory Council Update
Each county will have one CAC to advise the RHC on the needs of the county, as well as to identify solutions for meeting the goals of the Regional Health Improvement Plan (RHIP).

We have recruited enough applicants in most of our counties, however, we are still recruiting community members in Caswell, Chatham, Halifax, Person, Rockingham, Stanly, Stokes, Warren counties for the CACs. If you live or work in one of these counties and are interested in serving, please fill out an application online or email king.jones@cardinalinnovations.org.

Operations Council Update
Each Region will have an Operation Council that will look at data from our Community Needs Assessment, as well as data from our counties and local hospitals.

In January, we are meeting with Health Directors from each county to lay the ground work for initial Operations Council meetings.

Provider Partners Council Update
Our existing Provider Partners Council will be providing feedback on each region’s RHIP, as well as create an avenue for our providers to be engaged in the work of the Regional Health Council Model. This group has a current meeting schedule created and will provide feedback to the RHCs as needed.
