Perception of Care Survey

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare — May 01, 2019
Cardinal Innovations Healthcare has mailed survey forms to randomly selected providers who have rendered Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder services to Cardinal Innovations members. Detailed instructions were included with the packet of blank surveys. The current survey continues until June 4.

The state Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services (DMH/DD/SAS) oversees the annual survey as part of the requirements set in the Federal Community Mental Health Services and the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment block grants. This year, the survey period is from May 6 through June 4.

The survey assesses members’ perceptions of the services they received during the past year. Results are submitted to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and are published in an annual report, by Local Management Entities/Managed Care Organizations (LME/MCO), and used to inform policy decisions to improve the system.

LME/MCOs are asked to distribute blank surveys to network providers who are asked to distribute them to members who have a received a MH/SUD service during the survey period. The survey is voluntary for members, and is not used to monitor the performance of providers. The LME/MCO is responsible for gathering completed surveys and returning them to the NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
