Message from the CEO - September 2018

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare — September 12, 2018
At Cardinal Innovations, our mission is our north star that guides and informs everything we do. As we look to the future of healthcare in North Carolina, our mission – improving the health and wellness of our members and families – is the foundation of our strategy.

The elements of our strategic plan revolve around this singular point of focus, and ensuring we continually improve and advance several areas of our organization at the same time. Our focus on continuous improvement is critical to our ability to better serve our members now, and in the future.

With that in mind, the Board, our leadership, and our organization have identified the following five strategic pillars that will be our focus for the coming year:

Member-Focused Clinical Operations – With this pillar, the focus is on ensuring the best care for our members and looking at the health needs of the whole person as we transition to integrated care.

Providers as Allies – This is about supporting our providers and ensuring our network is strong, stable, and accessible to our members.

Operational Readiness – This one is all about preparing to become a Tailored Plan in 2021, as set forth in Medicaid reform.

Community-Based Governance – This pillar focuses on improving relationships with the communities we serve, listening more and delivering on their needs.

Employees as Change Agents – This is about giving our employees a voice and a stake in growing and improving as an organization.

We are actively working both internally and with a number of key partners to translate these pillars into detailed implementation plans with measurable, tangible results – all with the overarching goal of helping our members achieve better health outcomes.

Finally, I want to emphasize how seriously we value the safety of our members, providers, communities, and employees. It is critical we’re as prepared as possible for the conditions that Hurricane Florence is predicted to bring later this week to North Carolina.

We have set up an Emergency Preparedness webpage where you can find the latest news, member and provider resources, office closures and relevant contact information. We will continue to update this page, so check back frequently for the most up-to-date information.

Stay safe everyone,

Trey Sutten
