If you’re anything like me right now, you’re continuing to adjust to your new normal. You’re managing new and competing priorities – family, safety, children, work, finances, homeschooling, and social distancing, just to name a few. We’re canceling events, postponing vacations, avoiding gatherings, and keeping up with the latest news reports. No matter what position you find yourself in right now, it’s a tough and unprecedented time.
 
At Cardinal, while we’re focusing on managing through the crisis, we’re also focusing on the good. I’d encourage you to follow us on Facebook where we have some great resources – meditation Mondays, virtual dance classes, chair yoga, gardening tips and much more. We also have some great resources on our blog, like what to do if you’ve lost your job because of COVID-19, or how to prevent developing substance use disorders during the pandemic.
 
Personally, I’ve found that I get my biggest mental health boost by getting outside. I’m learning to love running – while social distancing, of course – and I just discovered a bike trail near my house that I never knew existed before the pandemic. Making myself spend time outside each day has helped a ton. I facetime with my family and have even set up some social zoom time to spend time catching up with friends.
 
Make sure to check on your friends and family. We are all strained, stressed, and uncomfortable - which is why focusing on mental health is more critical than ever.
