Cardinal Innovations Healthcare — April 13, 2020

We are proud to continue to partner with our members, providers, and communities to address the impact of COVID-19.  In addition to our broad efforts in partnership with DHHS to ensure provider stability, member access to care, and community support, Cardinal Innovations is taking immediate steps to respond to the rapidly increasing need for mental health services. I am excited to share a new initiative that launched last week: **Ask.

It is critical that people who need mental health support get the right help, fast. **Ask has been designed to do just that. Effective immediately, we have launched a new, easy to remember, crisis line number that will connect the caller with skilled clinicians in our Access call center. Individuals in or on the brink of a crisis often call 9-1-1 or end up in the emergency room – neither of which are designed to care for people in need of immediate mental health care. With **Ask, Cardinal Innovations will respond in person within seconds to calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Our licensed clinicians can help support the caller while also connecting them to providers and other community supports. We anticipate an immediate benefit to our communities in helping to ensure that Emergency Rooms are available for those who need them the most during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are investing throughout our 20 counties to help launch this new number so that we can reach as many people as possible. I hope you will join us in spreading the word by passing it along to anyone who will find value in this effort.

In addition to **Ask, we are also working closely with the State and all other LME/MCOs to support their Hope4NC mental health triage line. The state has also announced HopeforHealers – a hotline they have created to support front-line workers. As we all know, there is no wrong door for individuals who need help, and we are all committed to helping vulnerable folks get the right care at the right time in the right place.

New information and resources emerge every day – please check our website and the DHHS website frequently so that you can stay informed.  All of us at Cardinal Innovations hope that you are safe and well.
