Mecklenburg County and Cardinal Innovations Plan Community-Based COVID-19 Vaccination Event to Help Everyone Access the Vaccine

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare — May 05, 2021
Charlotte, N.C. – Mecklenburg County and Cardinal Innovations Healthcare announced today that they are partnering to organize a COVID-19 vaccine event in Charlotte to make it easier and more convenient for everyone to access a COVID-19 vaccination. This community-based vaccination site, to be located at the Movement School East on May 15, is intended to help local residents who may otherwise have difficulty traveling long distances to receive the vaccine.

“Everyone should be able to easily access the COVID-19 vaccine. By hosting a neighborhood vaccination event, we can break down barriers that make it harder for underserved communities to be vaccinated. We are pleased to work with Cardinal Innovations to help level the playing field for vaccine access,” said Mecklenburg County Commissioner Mark Jerrell, who represents District 4.

“This community-based event is part of Cardinal Innovations’ strong commitment to helping vulnerable populations navigate the pandemic. Instead of having to travel a significant distance across town, people in this neighborhood can walk or ride their bike to receive a free vaccine. We welcome the opportunity to partner with Mecklenburg County on this event, which we hope will encourage people to take action for their personal health as well as the surrounding community,” said Dietrick Williams, Chief Operations Officer at Cardinal Innovations. Williams was appointed by the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners to serve on the county’s COVID-19 Recovery and Renewal Task Force.

This event is also being supported by Freedom Fighting Missionaries and Walmart.
