Grants help Meals On Wheels during COVID-19 pandemic

WBTV — December 02, 2020
Many North Carolinians face food insecurity, especially during the global COVID-19 pandemic. Meals on Wheels is a program helping to deliver free “no-contact” meals to those most at risk for both food insecurity and COVID-19 complications: the senior community.
Volunteers deliver meals twice a week to limit exposure to the virus, and all follow “Safety First” protocol (social distancing, handwashing, and PPE) to protect their participants.
Several local and statewide nonprofits provided grants to Meals on Wheels Rowan during the COVID-19 pandemic to help fund the increased need for free meals and food delivery services. As a part of its $1.97M COVID-19 Relief Fund, Cardinal Innovations granted funding to help provide extra meals for the increasing number of participants who are food insecure.
