Club Nova Breaks Ground for New Clubhouse

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare — June 21, 2021
On May 3, Club Nova held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the expansion of their new and improved clubhouse in Orange County. Club Nova raised $4.3 million through a fundraising campaign, including support from Cardinal Innovations Healthcare. Cardinal Innovations committed $500,000 for the new facility that will serve members with severe mental illness.

Club Nova has a demonstrated record of reducing hospital readmission for its members. While people in the United States with mental illness have an average re-hospitalization rate of 40%, for Club Nova members the re-hospitalization rate is 12%. With a four-day hospital stay costing about $7,000, Club Nova for the same cost can provide one year of individualized support, employment opportunities, educational opportunities, and social opportunities.

This modern facility will enhance the organization’s ability to strengthen essential employment, education and social programs for adults living with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area. Having outgrown their previous facility, the new clubhouse will more effectively support their mission to improve the psychiatric, medical, social and financial well-being of members and their families.
