Cardinal Innovations Signs Lease for Community Operations Center in Uptown Charlotte

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare — April 15, 2014

KANNAPOLIS, NC – April 15, 2014 – Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions has signed a five-year lease for 13,465 square feet of office space at 1100 S. Tryon Street, which is currently occupied by The Charlotte Business Journal. This location will become the permanent Community Operations Center (COC) for Mecklenburg County, and is slated to open later this summer after renovations are completed.

Cardinal Innovations began operating a temporary Mecklenburg COC at 10150 Mallard Creek Road when the oversight of services related to mental health, substance abuse and disability care transferred from MeckLINK to Cardinal Innovations on April 1, 2014. Currently, 130 staff comprised of care coordinators and other support services are located there.

"We're looking forward to relocating our COC to uptown Charlotte where we can be near major hospitals and healthcare providers, in addition to being in a visible location where our providers, consumers and their families can easily access us," said Steven Timmons, chief administrative officer for Cardinal Innovations.

The Cardinal Innovations model is unique in that consumers and family members in the communities where we’re located work closely with our staff. Consumers and families are part of the Community Partners Team and serve as advocates, educators, and collaborators with individuals and families with disabilities, as well as local advocacy groups. Other services offered through our COC include:
  • Community Relations staff focused on collaboration with key community agencies, the school system, and other local and state entities.
  • Provider Relations staff that provide information and support to the providers enrolled in our network.
  • Quality Management staff with specific training and credentials focused on the assurance of quality services for consumers through monitoring, compliance audits and complaint investigations.
  • Care Coordination teams with one team dedicated to serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; and the other team dedicated to serving people with mental health and substance use/abuse conditions. Care Coordinators work with individuals to connect them to the services they need, and to ensure that the service provided are in accordance to the individual’s Service Plan.
Once the Mecklenburg COC is relocated to uptown Charlotte, Cardinal Innovations will move its Service Center from its corporate headquarters in Kannapolis to the Mallard Creek Road location.

The leasing agreement was handled by Clyde Robinson with JEN-KELL on behalf of Cardinal Innovations and Marshall Williams of Lincoln-Harris who represented the landlord.
