More than 300 people attending ‘Conversations on Recovery’ as part of
National Recovery Month

What: Cardinal Innovations Healthcare will host a symposium highlighting trauma focused care and its impact on recovery as part of National Recovery Month.

The event is designed for behavioral healthcare professionals and interested community stakeholders (agencies, non-profit and government). International trauma expert, author and playwright Sharon Wise will kick off the forum by sharing her own personal experience with mental illness, which lead to more than 30 years of hospitalizations and interventions.

Steve Micco, one of the nation’s foremost experts in establishing and managing peer-operated crisis diversion/respite services will continue the conversation. Micco is CEO of Projects to Empower and Organize the Psychiatrically Labeled, Inc. (PEOPLe, Inc.) a peer-operated advocacy and service organization in Poughkeepsie, NY. A panel discussion will follow.

Why: The event supports greater understaning about why diversity and inclusion are important to foster recovery from mental illness as well as how to access affordable resources.
