Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Consolidation Approved by CenterPoint

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare — October 22, 2015

KANNAPOLIS, N.C., Oct. 22, 2015 – CenterPoint Human Services board of directors has unanimously approved a consolidation agreement with Cardinal Innovations Healthcare. Both managed care organizations (MCOs) manage Medicaid, state and county funded benefits for individuals with special needs in North Carolina.

CenterPoint chief executive officer, Betty Taylor, applauded the move, stating, "CenterPoint's members and communities will benefit from Cardinal Innovations' managed care infrastructure and technology and will continue to be served through the local provider network that has been a hallmark of CenterPoint's behavioral health plan."

The transition, which is expected to become effective Feb. 1, 2016, will be seamless for CenterPoint's current members who will transition automatically into Cardinal Innovations' plan.

Richard Topping, chief executive officer at Cardinal Innovations, welcomed the addition of CenterPoint to the organization’s specialty health plan, noting, "Our company looks forward to working with members, providers and stakeholders in Forsyth, Davie, Stokes and Rockingham counties. The Cardinal Innovations and CenterPoint teams will work collaboratively to maintain high quality outcomes for our collective members throughout the transition."

Upon approval by the Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the combined organization will serve 20 counties with approximately 3 million citizens and over 812,000 enrolled members.
