CFAC Update: Let your Voice be Heard

Cardinal Innovations Healthcare — December 03, 2019
Let your voice be heard!

Please join your local Consumer and Family Advisory Committee (CFAC) to hear general community updates, share programming ideas, suggest potential providers, and any related issue that can benefit those in your local community receiving services through Medicaid or State-funds for intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health, and/or substance use disorder.

The State CFAC is open to the community as well. The State CFAC advises the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the General Assembly on the planning and management of the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services (DMH/DD/SAS).

The next State CFAC meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 11, at the Division of Public Health in the Cardinal Meeting Room, 5605 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. Can’t attend in person? There is a call-in option too: 1-888-273-3658; access code: 2490768#.

For more details, including membership information, volunteer opportunities, previous meeting minutes, etc., visit NC DHHS Councils and Commissions.
CFAC Summit Leaders from your local CFAC will join together on Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14, for a CFAC Summit. The Summit begins with the opportunity to mingle with the Cardinal Innovations Board of Directors along with Trey Sutton, CEO of Cardinal Innovations. Next, CFAC members will have the opportunity to view Compass & Light: A Series on Mental Health followed by a panel discussion:

“‘Compass & Light’ is a documentary series created to raise awareness and understanding of mental health in our community. It follows the stories of people who have felt the impact of mental illness. For too long, those who struggle with mental health have been kept silent by stigma and shame, so we hope that by listening to each other's stories and being empowered to share our own, we can create a community of compassion and action.”

Agenda items are being developed by the Summit Planning subcommittee and will include:
  • Local CFAC initiatives and best practices
  • Local CFAC responses to the Relational Agreement
  • Roles and responsibilities of CFAC
  • Information on Statewide CFAC meeting
