Thomas W. Lane was appointed to the Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Board of Directors in 2018. He has served as director and assistant director for various mental health and rehabilitation programs around the state.

From 2007 to 2015, Lane served as mayor of Butner, N.C. Lane was elected to the Butner Town Council last fall and will serve through December 2021. Butner is located is located in Granville County, which is one of the 20 counties where Cardinal Innovations manages care for individuals with mental health, intellectual/developmental and substance use disorder.

Lane also has served as a program specialist for the North Carolina Recreation Commission. He has served as a member of the Camp Butner Society, which organized to preserve the history of a 40,000-acre U.S. Army camp in Granville County that trained soldiers for combat during World War II.

Lane was born in Kinston, N.C. In 1947, at the age of 9, Lane moved to Butner, N.C. He later attended Creedmoor High School, obtained a Bachelor of Science from N.C. State University and a master’s degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a member of Community United Methodist Church.
