Tchernavia Montgomery


Tchernavia Montgomery was appointed to the Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Board of Directors in 2018. She is the Chief Program Officer of Crisis Assistance Ministry, Mecklenburg County's lead Agency in the fight against homelessness. Formerly a senior leader at Atrium Health (Carolinas Healthcare System), she has over 14 years of experience in human services and the behavioral health profession.

Her experience in behavioral health includes leading teams that provide services related to substance-abuse, outpatient, crisis response, and enhanced services. She serves as an adjunct faculty member with the UNC-Charlotte School of Public Health Sciences and School of Social Work.

As a resident of North Carolina for over 25 years, she is an invested partner in assuring the health and well-being of her community. Her professional affiliations include the American College of Healthcare Executives (Finance Committee); UNC-Charlotte School of Social Work, Community Advisory Board (Chair); Mentoring Program for Women on the Road to Success (MPWRS) Steering Committee (Carolinas Healthcare System) and Mentor; and the Goodwill Industries of Southern Piedmont Champions for Good. In 2018, she was honored with the Charlotte ATHENA Leadership Award for Service. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Ms. Montgomery received a bachelor’s and master’s in social work at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has received additional training and certification in supervisory and leadership from the University of the Pacific and the LEAN Leadership Development Program (Carolinas Healthcare System, American Council on Education).
