Scott Craver


J. Scott Craver was appointed to the Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Board of Directors in 2018. He is the Deputy Director of the Davidson County Department of Social Services, and has served for over seven years providing oversight for the Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, Foster Care/Adoptions, and Child Support Enforcement.

He has represented the DSS on numerous local and regional boards/councils/committees and has worked closely with Davidson County stakeholders to ensure that barriers to services are eliminated and that gaps in programming are identified. He demonstrated effective leadership in the formation of a monthly forum for continuous, open dialogue among law enforcement, school systems, Department of Juvenile Justice, and local mental health/substance abuse providers.

His social services career began with a two-year assignment with the United States Peace Corps, where he was stationed in the Republic of Moldova as an instructor of English as a Second Language. He returned to Winston-Salem and worked as a Social Worker for the Forsyth County Department of Social Services, then as Agency Relations Director for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, followed by a position as the Deputy Director of Exchange/SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now).

Mr. Craver’s professional and volunteer service includes membership in the United Way of Davidson County (Board member); Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (Board Chair); School Health Advisory Council; Davidson County Aging Planning Committee; Winston-Salem State University School of Social Work Advisory Board (former Board member/Chair); Fairgrove Family Resource Center (Board member); and the Davidson County Stop Prescription Abuse Now.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1993 and a Master of Public Affairs from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2002.

He lives in Lexington, NC.
