Dana M. Weston was appointed to the Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Board of Directors in 2018. Weston serves as President of UNC Rockingham Health Care in Eden, N. C.

Part of UNC Health Care, UNC Rockingham includes a 108-bed community hospital and a 121-bed skilled nursing facility and provides inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and long-term care to the residents of Rockingham County, Southern Virginia, and the surrounding areas. As President, Weston is responsible for the strategic vision, daily operations, and overall system growth.  

Before joining UNC Rockingham, Weston was the CEO of Morehead Memorial Hospital where, along with several turnaround initiatives, she successfully led the hospital through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy, preserving the rural community’s largest employer. Prior to Morehead, Weston was the Director of Operations for Adept Health where she developed hospital partnership models and served as a consultant to health system boards and c-suites across the region. Her consulting expertise included strategic planning, physician alignment, process improvement, and change management. Weston started her healthcare career as a strategic planning leader for Novant Health’s Greater Charlotte Market.

Originally from St. Louis, Mo., Dana received a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University (Atlanta, Ga.). She completed the Administrative Fellowship at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C., where she also achieved Six Sigma Black Belt training through NC State University.

Weston is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). She also serves on the boards of the United Way of Rockingham County (First Vice President), Eden YMCA, and Citizen’s for Economic Development, Inc., and was selected as Chair of the City of Eden’s Strategic Planning Commission. She is an active member of the Eden Rotary, Eden Woman’s Club (Vice President), and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Weston has been awarded the Triad Business Journal 40 Leaders Under 40, Emory University Alumni Forty Under 40, and the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) Young Executive of the Year.
