Beverly Corpening was appointed to the Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Board of Directors in 2018. She lives in Charlotte, N.C.

Corpening has been a mental health and social justice advocate for over 20 years. She currently serves as the Director of Program Development and Community ReachOut for PreForevergreen of Charlotte, Inc., an organization that provides training and employment in green skills for men and women returning to society after incarceration. 

With her background in nursing and psychology, as well as her training as a Certified Emergency Medical Technician, Corpening brings a variety of clinical expertise to her social practice. She is a leader in the community, serving as Chairwoman for the Mecklenburg Consumer and Family Advisory Committee (CFAC), Chair for Cardinal Innovations Executive CFAC, a member of the Mecklenburg Provider Network Council, a member of the Mecklenburg Community Board, Immediate Past Chair for the Mecklenburg System of Care Community Collaborative, and participates in other community groups.

As someone who is constantly pushing for innovations in behavioral health and support services, Corpening has been instrumental in the development of several programs to implement care and continued success in the areas of juvenile justice, inpatient and outpatient care, law enforcement and judicial systems. She also is involved with advocacy related to child welfare, elderly nutrition, small business development, and domestic violence prevention.

Corpening has four children, eight grandchildren and is a licensed minister. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in theology.
